Gather Australia Accompaniment edition

I’ve been looking the the accompaniment version of Gather Australia for some time.  I found a melody line edition at the the Lifeline Book sale but I could use the one with proper music.  If anyone has a copy surplus to their requirements I’d be interested in making a purchase.

Sorry Geoff, we are holding onto our Gather Australia hymns books (pew and accomp. versions) with our life.
Also a call out, if any one or a parish is throwing out or giving away Gather Australia hymns books (particulary the pew versions), my parish (Corinda Graceville) would be happy to have some. We have 2 churches with them on the seats and we have lost around 30 copies between the 2 churches, due to people taking them 🙁

That’s a lot of missing books! It would be surprising if there weren’t parishes with them in boxes taking up room having switched to projection. The last church I was at had quite a lot of pew version AOV’s that mostly lived in a box and someone said they hung onto to them for copyright reasons, which I didn’t understand.

In the past there were lots of hymn books at the Lifeline sale but they were thin on the ground this year except for pew versions of the Australian Hymn Book.

I’m just after a version of GA with real music so I don’t have to keep guessing the chords!

    Hi Geoff,
I am also looking for an accompaniment version of Gather Australia. A search of the internet showed a copy of melody version and also full accompaniment version in the National Library of Australia. You could ask you local library to do a interlibrary loan and borrow the library’s copy for about a month with an opportunity to extend. This would give you the opportunity to check it out. I have put the libraries web link below! Hope this helps.

I am also after an accompaniment version. One of our choir member’s house burnt down and her book with it and I would dearly love to be able to replace it for her. Please let me know if you have any luck finding them! I may be able to scrounge some pew editions from our church as we have switched to overheads if anyone is interested.

I too am looking for an accompaniment version. While we use a data projector in our church, I need the words & copyright information. We have now recruited two other parishioners to prepare the slides but we only have one book between us.

I would be interested in acquiring/buying two other versions.

    With thanks

      G’Day Ros

The melody line edition will have the words and copyright information and that will be easier to find.

Things are looking slightly hopeful re a couple of copies.

Maybe we need to ask for a reprint? Seems like there would be a few people interested in buying a copy for themselves as well as copies for individual churches to have on site. I certainly would love to get a copy and suggest our parish buy at least 2 copies.

I am trying to find the words of Phil Bates ” Take and Eat”. I have the song on CD and would like to project the words for our little congregation. if possible.

Thank you for your advice on ordering Gather Australia via the USA site. A beautiful new copy arrived this week. My 20 year old ‘organist’ daughter was thrilled with it! It did take a few weeks but they let me know when they posted it. Their web is http://www.music44.com. and it did cost USD $21.75 for the book and $27.59 for postage!

  11. Gather Australia For All says:

Hi, Will scans help anyone who is still looking for this? If the book is out of print, then is there any concern on sharing scans?

    • Beverley de Rosario says:

Hi Gather Australia For All, while the book may be out of print the non Public Domain music would still be under copyright to GIA, OCP, Willow Publishing, to name a few. Only scans of the Public Domain music would be legal.

      • admin says:

        Indeed.

        Geoff

      • Chris Wroblewski says:

While the music is not copyrighted, the typography is, so it is illegal to scan any part of the book (without permission). You can, however, happily re-type out the words and scores of any public domain material. OneLicense subscribers are allowed to directly copy material from melody-line editions of member-publishers, but that’s it!

  12. Maria Rega says:

Hi Chris, you are very lucky to have a copy of the accompaniment version. I don’t have one but am after the sheet music for Psalm 96 but possibly called: “Today is Born Our Saviour Christ Our Saving Lord” or it could be called: “Sing to the Lord a new song, o sing to the Lord bless his name”. I don’t think there’s any copyright on this hymn. I do have the sheet music but it’s so old now. We sing it as the Responsorial Psalm at midnight Christmas Mass. Thanking you in advance.

    • admin says:

      G’day Maria

Psalm 96 in Gather Australia is by Colin Smith and is administered by Willow Publishing. It might be best to ask them if it is in one of the collections of his Psalms for sale there.

      cheers

      Geoff
