When Love Is Found

I think Yola tried to explain this one to me some time ago and I don’t think I understood.

This lovely song often used for weddings is sometimes attributed to David Haas and Jeanne Cotter, but they didn’t write it even though it is on their CD When Love is Found.

The text is by Brian Wren and the tune is a 4/4 adaptation of O WALY WALY that Hal H. Hopson wrote for his song “The Gift of Love.”

To confuse matters, Wren’s text is set to the traditional 3/4 O WALY WALY in Worship and Together In Song.

To further confuse matter at Hymnary there are three verses, at Hope Publishing there are four verses (check the preview), and in Worship there are five verses. It can be purchased at Hope Publishing or you could buy Haas and Cotter’s whole collection at GIA if you wanted to.

In  any event, Yola’s parish uses it in the usual Mass, rather than waiting for a wedding.

As you can imagine, as a wedding song there are no shortage of You Tube clips, for example:
