Bernadette Farrell’s “Unless A Grain Of Wheat” is a favourite: I have not heard Lawrence Rosania’s “As Grains of Wheat” until I googled it just now. Thank you!
I only just found this website whilst looking (in vain) to purchase a copy of Gather Australia.

We picked the Taize Ubi caritas after communion…

      G’Day Mark

I only have my old melody line version of Gather Australia and I never did find a proper accompaniment version at the Lifeline booksales – but hope springs eternal. I have a few collections of hymns with just a melody line so finding chords is fun.

We sang “Unless a Grain of Wheat” this morning at St Peters, Rochedale. It sounds great on piano so luckily one the excellent pianists was playing this morning rather than just myself with a guitar.

I love the Taize “Live in Charity”, which we sang at my last parish. Band in a Box is the natural enemy of chant style songs but I put up a backing some years ago for it:

Feel free to share your parish selections if you have time. Seeing what other parishes are doing is very instructive and Rosania’s “As Grains of Wheat” is a good example. It was in As One Voice Vol 2 and I blogged it here:

      cheers

Thank you, Geoff. I picked up my piano accompaniment version of Gather Australia quite a number of years ago at St Paul’s bookshop next to St Stephen’s Cathedral: it was a damaged copy that they could not sell and I was allowed to keep it!

I first heard “Unless a Grain of Wheat” at an ordination. Needed a tissue … Heard it again at another ordination a couple of years later … this time, I had tissues handy.

My first experience performing music at church would be 19 years ago in Toronto and we used Gather (standard). My friends were surprised to hear about Gather Australia!

If you are looking for a copy of GA I have a few. It’s only the melody line version but better than nothing. I work in the city if convenient to meet you and pass it along. Let me know.

    • Mark Leung says:

Thank you, Emma! I would really like a copy: my wife D’Arne would really appreciate having a vocal edition when we practise and at mass.

Geoff, is there a way to pass contact information to other posters without sharing in public please? Thank you! from Ming
