The King of Glory

I thought I must have already posted this one, as we have used it ourselves in the past, but as I found nothing I must be mistaken. RS’s parish used it on Palm Sunday and that makes sense.

It is by William F. Jabusch and has never been a favourite of mine as I think it is hard for an assembly not to destroy it in the the execution. Too slow and it drags, but at a decent speed it is hard to be light enough.

The lyrics are at spiritandsong and the generous sound sample there sounds more faux medieval than Israeli folk song. The sheet music is available to purchase for download at OCP.

I liked it more when I gave up and just rocked it up a little.
