Thanks to Michael Somerville I have now have my copy of Gather Australia with chords.
It is a version I’ve never seen before. I recall a larger format accompaniment book but this one is the same size as the melody line edition I have, but somewhat thicker and has piano music and guitar chords for many of the songs.

That’s a great question, Ros. I’ve only ever seen the melody line and the accompaniment edition.
Keyboard and guitar appear the over-privileged instruments. GA is pretty much out of print now, but I don’t think even CWB2 has anything other than keyboard and guitar.
Other instrumentalists usually have to find the original source and hope that there are arrangements for their instrument.

I’ve seen Bb editions for some publications from GIA – and maybe WLP did one a while back too (I have a vague memory). Never heard of any of the Australian or even UK publishers doing them, though.
FWIW, I met a clarinet (I think that what’s what it was) player who said “Someone told me that if I wanted to play in church, I’d need to learn to transpose at sight. So I did.” – and she was amazing, could play almost anything, in any key. A real treasure in any church music programme. Possibly more skilled than many 🙂
