Salve, Regina by Trevor Thomson

Ryan told me that Trevor Thomson did a modern version of Salve Regina – Hail, Queen of Heaven. Thomson has taken the guts of tune and inserted it into a more metrical version – but he has a lot of changes in time signature nonetheless. The refrain is in Latin and the verses in English.

If you think its a good idea to take the Latin out of chant, the sheet music is available at OCP.

My backing suggests I was in a strange mood:

Mary mentioned a further modernisation: the Sister Act version of another Marian hymn, “Hail Holy Queen”.
