I find the words and the meaning of this piece an outstanding reflection on that which drives our liturgical worship of Jesus, the Christ. For me the dominant meaning of shed is the blood of redemption in love. I'm male but not in the man box I hope, and also aware that 50% of us at, least, probably connect far more with meaning of 'bloodshed'. As in Gaza. The 3/8 time shift attempts to convey the joy of the love revealed in self sacrifice. Creative and worthwhile for me anyway. The crucifixion is such an extraordinary event of suffering and love. We have to remember Jesus could have but didn't walk away from it. The 4 verses take us on a reflective journey for the Christ life. Christopher Walker is a cut above most people writing for liturgy IMHO.
Perhaps the fact that you don't hear this piece much reflects the sad state of our liturgy after people like Joseph R. etc. have had their way with it.
There's a beautiful rendition of this music done by Chris Brunelle at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vp1tB-JI8g It's not hard.

In reply to <a href="https://www.sixmaddens.org/bread-for-the-world-broken-aov-160/#comment-98">Bernard Roberts</a>.

Yes it is a lovely song Bernard. Christopher Walker is published by OCP so you may be able to buy it as a single download from them or in one of their collections.
Obviously you or your church could also buy the As One Voice Collections from their website: http://www.asonevoice.com.au/as-one-voice-vol-1

I'm not aware that copywrited liturgical music often turns up as noteworthy files, but I know little about them. Good luck with your choir and Christopher Walker's very challenging song.

Our Church choir would love to learn this beautiful hymn. Is there anyway we could get a copy of the music , either in sheet form or a Noteworthy file?

An early and favourable reply will be much appreciated.
