I first sun it in the Assembly of God church in Maunu Rd, Whangarei in 1972. My older sisters high school friend and I had just been camping, we’d been caught in a Really Bad Storm, dripping wet we were offered a ride by a friend of my sisters friendsbrothers friend (God works in AMAZING Ways). Well we accepted the ride, about 10 minutes into our journey we were asked if we like to go to church.. our answer was yes..
We’d been outside All night in the pouring rain, with a half dead and Very Smoky Fire from sunset to sunrise Sunday morning.. we were wet, muddy, smelling like a bush fire, basically we stunk and we knew it… On arrival at the little Old AOG Church we found it was standing room only and there was not much of that, i suggested we go sit beside the front pews, as we walked up the isle, talking began to stop, we sat down on the sides of the isle, leaving plenty of room for people to get by. I was just saying to Pam, my sister’s friend that i thought maybe we should go, when an elderly Gentleman stood up, excused himself from the middle of the Pew and proceeded to walk down the isle and I’m thinking Dad we need……. but immediately arriving behind us, he asked “Do You mind if I join You”, we introduced ourselves and moments later the Minister arrived and the 1st Hymn would be “Come As You Are”….. I’ll be 67 this month and I will Never Forget what that Gentleman Did that Morning, cos we REALLY STUNK & We Were REALLY FILTHY, But We Were ACCEPTED & Loved…. upon arrival back home my mum told me to go down to the beach and have a swim in my clothes….

Come As You Are is EXACTLY WHAT OUR LORD & SAVIOR has been Calling Us To Do, He Us Coming Back SOON..
