Well, the thees and thous may SOUND archaic and too formal, but remember that they are the intimate forms of second person address (aka "you"). I think that it's lovely that we only address God as "Thee" or "Thou" anymore.

Thanks Chris - much better without thee's and thou's.
A great choice for an early morning mass with semi-conscious people given a tune they know to kick things off.

We had music which nearly made me late for work - still it's a mighty effort to play piano at 6.30am and I applaud the effort.

Entrance: Create a New Heart
Psalm as for 1st week in Lent (O'Brien)
Ashes (for the Ashes)
Lenten Gospel Acclamation (Mason)
Communion: Hosea
Recessional: Holy Darkness

Basically they are the words but we have them with the 'thee and thou' replace by 'you' etc. The music can found on HymnCharts.com

Are these the lyrics to "Lord Throughout These Forty Days"? They seem to fit Amazing Grace but are claimed as an Anglican text by Claudia Hernaman from 1873.

Lord, who throughout these forty days
For us didst fast and pray,
Teach us with Thee to mourn our sins
And close by Thee to stay.

As Thou with Satan didst contend,
And didst the victory win,
O give us strength in Thee to fight,
In Thee to conquer sin.

As Thou didst hunger bear, and thirst,
So teach us, gracious Lord,
To die to self, and chiefly live
By Thy most holy Word.

And through these days of penitence,
And through Thy passiontide,
Yea, evermore in life and death,
Jesus, with us abide.

Abide with us, that so, this life
Of suffering over past,
An Easter of unending joy
We may attain at last.
