I have been playing this beautiful song for communion in our masses since I learned it from the Marist seminarians in Port Moresby in the 90s! I never saw the music until now, but we have been spot on with the chords in the song. I, however, like the original intro progression from the 1st chord, to the 2nd and 3rd minors, then to the 4th and 5th major chords before the song comes in. Thank you and God bless!

Hi Eliza, that’s so nice to hear. Your Father did an excellent job for the Church and we’re proud. Do you have the chord work as well on all his songs, or is it just the music sheet.

I realise that some of these comments and queries are now 8 years old, however if anyone comes across this thread feel free to contact me. Phil Bates was my father, who unfortunately died in 2011. We still have all of his original recordings and sheet music for all of his songs for anyone interested.

We have a new request for this song of Phil Bates Take and Eat from a family for their mothers funeral on Wednesday and having the Whispers Cassette and Music Book of 30 odd years ago when we were playing guitars we are using my tape for the Communion Reflection as they have requested. Much joy there.
