We use Donald Fishel’s Alleluia No. 1, but this one is new to me. The text has a general application beyond the obvious Easter vigil use. You can hear a piano + choir version here that is quite slow – the snippet at AOV is more up tempo. My backing is at 80 bpm.

Is it possible to copy the lyrics for a one-off use in a church service? The church has Mission Praise including the words but as we are using another hymn book in the service it is difficult to hold onto both. We will need about 16 copies and will destroy them afterwards.

This song is biblically clear and right, and to be honest this is not a Roman Catholic song, this is a Christian or born again Christian song, I believe that the composer (Donald Fishel) is probably a Baptist christian composer, just read the lyrics carefully-hoping all catholic people realize the truth from this song (John 3:1-7) (John 3;16), and the clarity of “Salvation”, the light of Jesus Christ, we all need Jesus and He is the way, truth and life- God bless you all! I gather this and his other famous hymn, “Alleluia No. 1” were written when he was quite young and involved in the Catholic Charismatic movement. His music is used across denominations though.
Fishel is also a flautist, computer programmer and musical theatre enthusiast, all wonderful things to have spent a life involved with.
