Shout to the Lord

This is the daddy of all Australian P&W songs, Darlene Zschech’s, “Shout to the Lord,” coming in at No 114 in AOV NG.  This works well as a recessional and should be sung slowly and the tendency to speed up as the chorus gets noisy should be resisted.  I’ve been singing this old warhorse too long to completely despise it, as I should considering my irrational dismissal of all that is Hillsong.  I’m sure you’ve heard Hillsong’s version, so how about American Idol – I kid you not.

The sheet music is all over the net (eg here) and can be purchased for download at several sites including musicnotes.

My backing has the usual arrangement.

My Jesus, my Saviour
Lord there is none like You
All of my days I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love

My comfort, my shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You

Shout to the Lord
All the Earth, let us sing
Power and majesty
Praise to the King
Mountains bow down
And the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name

I sing for joy at the work
Of Your hands
Forever I’ll love You
Forever I’ll stand
Nothing compares
To the promise I have in you.
