Purpose
I've worked my way through the As One Voice books and other collections making backings on Band in a Box to help me (& you if you're interested) learn new songs for church. This is aimed at churches and musicians that own the collections but haven't exploited them fully. If you don't have them they are certainly worth buying. This site is educational, nonprofit and designed to enhance the commercial prospects of songwriters. This site does not distribute copyrighted sheet music.Disclaimer
Any opinions expressed here are personal views and not the responsibility of any Church.
All music backings posted are created by myself and the intention is for them to be used to learn the songs. If any copyright holder wishes me to cease publicising and promoting their wares and directing people to where sheet music can be legally purchased please let me know.Mason’s “Mass of Glory and Praise”
To access my backings for Paul Mason's mass go to Feb 2011 in the archive.-

How Brightly Beams the Morning Star NLPHB 100
I’m surprised by how many of these songs from the New Living Parish Hymn Book are new to me after all the collections I have looked at. This interesting hymn is of rather convoluted origin and often used at Christmas. … Continue reading

Holy Spirit, Lord of Light NLPHB 99
This is the Pentecost sequence attributed to Pope Innocent III (circa C13), or maybe the Archbishop of Canterbury at the time, Stephen Langton. They had their moments. It has also been claimed by Robert II of France and others. It … Continue reading

Holy Spirit, Ever Dwelling NLPHB 98
This is a hymn I’d never come across that is unusually direct in its exploration of the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Church. The text is by Timothy Rees and it is set here to ABBOT’S LEIGH by … Continue reading

Holy Spirit, Come Confirm Us NLPHB97
I covered this text in CWB II set to LAUS DEO, and while many other settings have been used for William Brian Foley‘s words, the ever reliable HYFRYDOL by Rowland Pritchard was a good choice here in the New Living … Continue reading

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty NLPHB 96
I did blog this one years ago and commented that I sang it at my Presbyterian church as a child, so it obviously has broad appeal. I’m not sure why the saints are “casting down their golden crowns around the … Continue reading

Holy God, We Praise Thy Name NLPHB 95
I blogged this as “Holy God, We Praise Your Name” in As On Voice 2 many years ago. This version leaves the archaic language intact. The text is a German paraphrase of the”Te Deum Laudamus” attributed to Ignace Franz and … Continue reading

Holy Father, God of Might NLPHB 94
This stirring hymn is by master tunesmith Richard Connolly, who wrote both the words and music on this occasion. This might be one to end my eternal quest for hymns for Christ the King, although I fear it needs the … Continue reading

A Christmas Blessing… Again.
Every now and then I have a look for new things at the Willow website, or things that I haven’t noticed before. While there I noticed Erica Marshall’s, “A Christmas Blessing”, which is one I have seen before and blogged … Continue reading

His Peace He Gives us (aka Gift of Peace) NLPHB 93
When I blogged this song with it’s appearance in the Praise to God Parish Hymnal, I had concerns over its authorship. PTG said the tune was by Sr Deirdre Brown and other sources had it by Sr Germaine Habjan. The … Continue reading

He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands NLPHB 92
Unbelievably in all these years I’ve never covered this spiritual, which has become a standard. First published in the 1920s of unknown authorship it became popular in the 1950s. This hymnal has John de Luca’s own arrangement and there are … Continue reading
