Mark Friedman and Janet Vogt wrote this Advent anthem that is in Never Too Young. Like many of the songs in this collection it is not specifically for young people. There are two harmony lines provided to use towards the end of the song.

My somewhat random look through the collection, Never Too Young, has turned up this rather sweet adaption of a text from St Francis of Assisi, by Rufino Zaragoza OFM. I am skipping many songs because I have done them before or because you can’t buy them from OCP separately.

This an appropriately joyful setting of Psalm 126 by Jaime Cortez. Sometimes singing psalms of joy we may not sound that way, so this is great. The sheet music says 80bpm but I suspect it is 120+. The cantor will need to watch for the subtle differences in melody between the first verse and the other verses.

This song, aka “O Come and Sing”, is by Manual José Alonso and José Pagán with an English translation by Owen Alstott. He must be quite a translator as the Spanish version at OCP has 3 verses and the English four. The text is based on Revelation 7:4, 9-12.
It is a lively song for gathering and sending forth. While Never Too Young is aimed at a youth audience, singing for joy is not limited to young people.
