Let the Same Mind (God Has Exalted Him) SNS 35

I’ll do a couple more from this collection then give the P&W a rest.  This actually is a song based on passages in Matthew by Graham Kendrick and isn’t praise and worship at all, in fact it is the sort of song an assembly could actually sing and it could even have liturgical uses.

The text is at Kendrick’s site and I couldn’t find it to purchase for download anywhere but it is at least in “The Source : New Songs”.

Roll Away the Stone

RS was kind enough to put this year’s Easter liturgies from their parish recently. There was a lot of material new to me that I will be putting up over the next few weeks.

It seems clear that a lot of US music that came out after AOV 1&2 has not had a lot of exposure in Australia.  I recently went on a second hand hymn book raid on Abebooks and will be looking at some of these songs that have passed us by.

This is a Tom Conroy song that is obviously for Easter Sunday. The number of YouTube clips suggest it’s popular but a lot of the versions seem to drag.

The text is here and the sheet music can be purchased from OCP.

He Healed the Darkness of My Mind

Yola’s parish used the song I hadn’t heard of recently.  The text is by Fred Pratt Green and the tune is ARLINGTON by David Haas.

The text is at Hymnary thanks to Hope Publishing and the sheet music can be purchased at GIA. My copy is in Gather Comprehensive (844).

Listen from 4:40

Go Now You Sent Are Forth

Leo Watt joined the discussion about one of his songs the other day so I though I’d put up another of his songs.

Mary at Godsongs did the legwork on his background and included a link to sheet music and clips of this song for sending forth.

Let the Chimes of Freedom Ring (Chimes of Freedom) SNS 33

This is a Celtic hymn of actually liturgical use by Dave Bilbrough.

The text is here and I found a snippet to listen to here. I couldn’t find the sheet music to purchase for download online.

My backing rather missed the feel and went sort of gypsy Irish.

Hosanna to the Son of David

Frenzy Cool is planning ahead and has asked for more of Michael Herry’s service music, this time for Palm Sunday.

Marist music has the sheet music and a sound file here.

The instructions are for a strong rock beat.  I’ve only done the song through twice.

If You Would Have Seats at My Table

Frenzy Cool has asked for some of Michael Herry’s service music. This one is for the twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B, based on Mark 10:35-45.

The Marists have come to the party and put the sheet music up here. They have also put a sound file to listen to here.

My backing just goes through the short song twice.
