We don’t seem to do a different liturgy for Pentecost Vigil.
Entrance: Send Down the Fire (Haugen) AOV 2/164
Psalm 104 (Boschetti)
Lord, Send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
Gifts: Holy Spirit Come (Mangan) AOV NG 67
Communion: Table of Plenty (Schutte) AOV 2/20
Come to the Table (Burland) AOV NG 33
Thanksgiving: Holy Spirit of Fire (Mangan)
Recessional: Sing Out Earth and Skies (Haugen) AOV 2/32
I’ll get back to Voices As One soon but I’m still working through the traditional hymns that turned up in the Easter liturgies posted here.
This one is a text by Pamela Stotter that I found in Together in Song but is also in the old Catholic Worship Book (No 639). The tune is VULPIUS by Melchior Vulpius – an early seventeenth century tune.
The text is in this thread – scroll down.
BIAB + a simple organ VST provided this backing:
I’m enjoying my musical education looking into the hymns for Easter that were posted in the comments section here. I’m blogging the ones I don’t know for which I can find sheet music.
This is a great hymn from the team of poet, James Phillip McAuley and composer Richard Connolly. The tune is really quite inventive and delightful. My copy is in Together In Song. You can also buy it in a collection of their music from As One Voice called the “Year of Grace Music Book.”
The text is at Cantus Mundi.
For my backing I went looking for more manageable free church organ VSTs and this simple one worked fine:
I think I’ll just power on with the songs that were posted here for Easter. I have a run of songs from Together in Song.
This text is by Samuel Crossman and has been set to a few tunes. The one in TIS is LOVE UNKNOWN by John Nicholson Ireland.
There is a nice story behind the hymn here.
The text is at Hymnary although TIS has two more verses. Hymnary also gives details of the tune and other hymnals in which it can be found.
My backing is over fussy and I did it this way because I was sick of the church organ VST and was trying to avoid using it again:
This is better:
This is another Easter song posted by the commenters here that I haven’t blogged before and one I found in Together in Song.
The text is by Isaac Watts to the tune of ROCKINGHAM. All details including text and sheet music are at Hymnary.
My backing is in D and avoids church organ VSTs by going country. I can’t pretend backings for songs like these are teaching anyone but me, but there you go.
I’m still working through songs from the Easter liturgies posted here that I didn’t know, but everyone else does.
This is by Francis of Assisi in William Draper’s translation set to LASST UNS ERFREUN.
All the details – text, sheet music etc are at Hymnary.
My backing was more struggling with buggy church organ VSTs. For some reason in BIAB they reset their settings when the song starts so the volume is hard to control. That said, it was free.
Choirs:

Modern interpretations:
Julie and Tim Smith wrote this song that covers a wide range of liturgical territory.
The text is in this document. The sheet music is available to subscribers at WLP, which is weird because the copyright is given as OCP.
You can listen to the song at their website and when you do you’ll hear they used Pachelbel’s Canon as the introduction.
I didn’t:
Ryan put up his parish music selections last week and they included this song. It is Omer Westendorf’s translation of Ubi Caritas, set to a tune called CHRISTIAN LOVE by Paul Benoit OSB.
The text is here and the sheet music is available at WLP in C which is probably too high unless you have an accomplished choir.
I’m guessing the chords here and I don’t fully understand what time signature is happening here but this is my backing in G.
Entrance: Shout to the Lord (Zschech) AOV NG 114
Psalm 47 (O’Brien)
God mounts his throne with shouts of Joy:
a blare of trumpets for the Lord.
Gifts: The Fullness of God (Andersen) AOV 2/62
Communion: Table Song (Haas)
Lord to Whom Shall We Go? (Herry) AOV 1/6
Thanksgiving: One Body (O’Brien- Watts) AOV 2/146
Recessional: Go Make a Difference (Angrisano/Tomaszek) AOV NG 52
This is another Ed Bolduc song from “Voices As One” and is a setting of Psalm 138.
The text is in the sample at WLP where the sheet music can be purchased. The snippet you can hear there is a bouncy pop version that teeters towards reggae.
My version is more blues shuffle.
