Humbly Here

Liam Desic from emmanuelworship wrote this song about commitment and belonging.

It is from the collection, “Glory”, and the lead sheet is available for free from emmanuelworship. It is half the length of some of the others and has a use at Pentecost.

1 Oh I believe in something more, Oh I believe in Christ the Lord.

My life begins where he’s adored, my life is yours for what it’s worth.

My life is yours for what it’s worth.

Chorus

Father I am humbly here.

No longer wayward no fear within.

Send your fire down in tongues of grace.

You are faithful, oh you bless me.

Oh, I will never be alone, here I am, I will never be alone,

Here I am, I will never be alone, here I am, I will never be alone.

2 Eternal love waits for me, a Son that died to set me free.

My soul will sing a song of peace. Surrender all on bended knee.

Surrender all on bended knee.

Chorus

Bridge x4

I’ll brave the valley, I’ll walk through darkness,

To touch your hem and taste the summit.

Instrumental

Chorus

Glory, Glory

This is pretty much a straight praise and worship song from emmanuelworship. It is a loud 6/8 song that goes way too high for an assembly but is perfect for a youth rally. It was written by Roby Curtis.

You get to sing wo-oh a lot.

It is in the collection, “Glory”, and the lead sheet is available for free at emmanuelworship.

My BIAB backing goes berserk wall of sound jig, which I doubt was the intention.

Chorus

Glory, glory, Alleluia. Glory, glory, Alleluia.

Glory, glory, Alleluia. Glory, glory, Alleluia.

1 Bless the Lord, for I have seen his great and wond’rous deeds,

Hope within his promises and counts of endless grace.

I have seen his holy arm raise the dead and lost.

Signs and wonders here today, there’s power in the cross.

Prechorus 1

And my soul proclaims, you are holy Lord.

God of endless days, Lamb upon the throne.

God in modern ways, you are here and now.

Rising through the ash, you restore our church.

Chorus

2 Righteousness and justice he proclaims through all the earth.

Gracious and compassionate, love for all oppressed.

As far as east is from the west, our sins he wipes away.

Praise our God with heavenly hosts and angels we proclaim.

Prechorus 2

I will sing to you, with every breath that I have.

Mountains move at your name, seas they roar your praise.

Let your joy spring forth, give new life to our land.

For the battles’ won, Victory in our God.

Interlude

Wo-oh oh x8

Bridge x2

Evil has no place, we rebuke in Jesus’ name.

We are children of our Father, called to love each other.

In unity we seek to feed our Father’s sheep.

The Kingdom we are seeking, the harvest you are reaping.

Our Church will stand again, a home for all the hurt,

You’re raising up the standard, darkness knows no answers.

All glory to our God, Hosanna to our King,

The end and the beginning, Jesus King of Kings.

Bridge 2 x2

All hail to the King of Kings. All glory and majesty

Chorus

First Fruits

I am continuing with selections from the collection “Glory” by emmanuelworship.

This one is by Dom Dougherty (youngish) and Roby Curtis (experienced). Curtis was writing songs for emmanuelworship twenty years ago. It is a song of commitment and getting to those high F’s in the “woah”s is quite the commitment.

The lead sheet is available for free from emmanuelworship.

These songs take a lot longer to make backings for compared to standard hymns, with the syncopation, rhythms that match speech more than song, extensive bridgework and sheer length contributing to their complexity. As some compensation they are more fun. There are long interludes in the song, which gives BIAB a chance to extemporise solos that are really amazing.

1 You are doing something new in me God.

You’re stirring up a song in my heart.

I’m waiting, holding to your Word, covenant and promise to me.

2 I will never turn back, God.

This is all that I desire, what I’m created for.

I surrender my heart to where you’re moving,

Place you first, in all I’m doing,

I know where I belong, I am loved.

Chorus

I give you first fruits in my life,

The best part of my soul, everything I desire God.

Lord I sing, renew your will in me,

Show me that true identity is found in you.

I give you first fruits.

Is found in you, I give you first fruits.

Bridge 1 x2

Take the pride of place high above my life,

Deeper waters, higher calling.

Through the darkest days, Jesus guide my ways,

Armour wearing, faith declaring.

God of endless days, manifest in grace,

Revelation, Son of David.

Rock and heaven’s key, Jesus prince of peace,

Name eternal, the whole world trembles.

Bridge 2 x2

For Jesus, you are my end my beginning, woah.

For Jesus, my whole life trembles at your glory, woah.

Bridge 1 x1

Bridge 2 x4

Music for Pentecost Year C June 4th/5th 2022 Year C

I think I am playing for Vigil this week, must check.

Entrance: Send Down the Fire (Haugen) AOV 2/164

Holy Spirit of Fire (Mangan) CWB II 110

Table of Plenty (Schutte) AOV 2/20

Lord, the Light of Your Love (Kendrick) AOV 2/59

The sequence can be sung to “Song of Joy” so everyone knows the tune. This is Alstott’s adaptation but as Chris has pointed out on this blog before, others can be used with little emendation.

Come, O Holy Spirit ‐ HYMN TO JOY

  1. Come, O Holy Spirit, come! And from your celestial home
Shed a ray of light divine! Come, O Holy Spirit, come!
Come, O Father of the poor! Come, O Source of all our store!
Come, within our bosoms shine! Come, O Holy Spirit, come!
  2. You, of comforters the best;
    You, the soul’s most welcome guest;
Sweet refreshment here below; Come, O Holy Spirit, come!
    In our labor, rest most sweet; Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe. Come, O Holy Spirit, come!
  3. O most blessed Light divine, May that Light within us shine,
And our inmost being fill! Come, O Holy Spirit, come!
In your absence, we have naught,
Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint of ill. Come, O Holy Spirit, come!
  4. Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
    On our dryness pour your dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away: Come, O Holy Spirit, come!
    Bend the stubborn heart and will; Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray. Come, O Holy Spirit, come!
  5. On the faithful who adore And confess you ever more,
In your sev’nfold gift descend; Come, O Holy Spirit, come!
    Give them virtue’s sure reward; Give them your salvation, Lord;
Give them joys that never end.
    Come, O Holy Spirit, come!

Encounter You

This is a fine song by Dom Dougherty from emmanuelworship‘s collection “Glory” that starts in a slow praise and worship style and eventually leads to a trinitarian mantra. It really grew on me, so if you have a spare 8-10 minutes in a youth liturgy it is worth consideration for Trinity Sunday at least.

The lead sheet is free to download from emmanuelworship.

I spent a bit more time on this in BIAB for a change.

1 I can’t find words to describe your love.

I accept that I am weak, I leave room for you to move.

Chorus

It’s always been you, pulling me through.

My Saviour my only desire, encounter you,

surrender to you.

2 Let me chase down your wildest dreams

Let me see your heart.

Jesus you’re all I need, your grace is enough for me.

Chorus

Bridge 1 x4

I surrender to love, to the heart of the Father,

To the grace of the Son, to the power of the Spirit.

Bridge 2

So take heart, our God has overcome.

So take heart, our God has overcome.

Emmanuel

I suppose emmanuelworship would eventually have to do a song called “Emmanuel”. It is written by Dom Dougherty and is an Advent song that rightly looks forward to Easter. It is in the form of a slow burn praise and worship song.

You can download the lead sheet for free from emmanuelworship in the collection “Glory”.

1 Do not be afraid, the Lord is here.

He sees you on your knees, trembling.

The virgin shall conceive, and bear a son.

Hope of the world, this precious child

Prechorus

The son of God, the Lord most high, the King forever.

Chorus

Emmanuel, here with us. Emmanuel, Christ in us.

Emmanuel, God is with us.

2 True God true man, flesh divine.

Saviour of the world, His works are glorious.

The veil was torn in half, heaven broke through.

Now we worship him, in the saints communion.

Prechorus 2

The King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, King forever.

Chorus x2

Bridge x2

With a mighty roar of praise, we’re lifting up your name, the name above all.

The earth begins to shake, the stone is rolled away Jesus is here.

Chorus

3 If you believe in him, you will be saved.

If you declare your faith, you will be saved.

The Son of God the Lord most high, King forever,

Jesus.

Changes

I would like to have a look at more recent emmanuelworship music. Their most recent album, “He Is Moving” only has chords posted, which makes it a lot more work, so I’ll go back to 2019’s “Glory” for which they have kindly provided lead sheets.

This song is a praise and worship song by Liam Desic. What he somewhat lacks in coherence lyrically, he more than makes up for in passion. The music makes for a healthy exercise in syncopation and goes awfully high in places.

I’ve made a backing to sing along with to learn the song.

1 I’m in the deep, under the stars.

My heart is desperate to hear your call.

And when I hear, your voice oh God,

I’d best be present, step out into You.

Prechorus

You’ve won my heart, taught me to love.

Oh Lord your mercy changes me

Chorus

I am new now, just want to draw close to You

and I, find rest in your holy name.

I am new now, just want to draw close to You

and I, find rest in your holy name.

2 For I have turned my back on him,

But to you Father, I’m welcomed home.

It don’t make sense, It’s not cautious love,

Oh Lord your mercy, It changes me.

Prechorus

Chorus

Bridge x4

Celebrate his goodness, God the Lord most high,

Pulled me out of darkness, now I’m walking in the light.

3 Now I have seen, what love can do.

I’ve seen my mountains, they crumble down.

I’ll bear my heart, step in to light,

And now I declare, I’ll give it all.

Prechorus

Chorus

Ⓒ 2019 emmanualworship

They have very generous licensing arrangements at emmanuel worship, which I think are worth looking to as a model.

EMMANUEL WORSHIP LICENSING INFO
Our aim is to make licensing Emmanuel Worship music as simple as possible.

CHORD CHARTS
• Chord Charts for songs off of our albums (not including Mass Settings) are free to download, make copies of and distribute. You can download our Chord Charts on our Music page

• Chord Charts for our Mass Settings (Rivers and Rivers Youth) must be purchased and used within a single ministry context, such as a single school, parish or ministry. However, within that ministry digital and physical copies can be made and sent to musicians as many times as you like. It’s not appropriate to share the chord charts with someone outside of that ministry context for their use somewhere else.

PUBLIC PERFORMANCE
• Public performers of Emmanuel Worship music will need to hold a music license, such as CCLI or OneLicense.

• Every performance of Emmanuel Worship music, including the Mass Setting, will need to be reported through the reporting system of whatever music license you hold. This is really important because it’s what determines the royalties that go to our songwriters.
