Nadie en el Sepulcro / No One in the Tomb SAS 1/130

I’m still in the gathering and sending forth songs from Spirit & Song Vol 1 and this one is obviously for Easter. As I have noted previously, because As One Voice used a lot of OCP material, and I have already blogged all of As One Voice, there is a high proportion of songs not favoured for an Australian parish audience that comprise these remainders in Spirit & Song. The editors at As One Voice not only avoided the Spanish/English bilingual songs, but also those that were better as solo vehicles.  I agree with their judgement in most cases.

This one by Jaime Cortez  is for the assembly though, with a call and response in the verses with the assembly repeating the cantors line and the refrain shared after the cantor does the initial “Alleliua!” I don’t think I could get away with this song, but it would be great to try.

The text is at spiritandsong where you can hear a snippet. It can be purchased for download at OCP. The whole song can be heard here.

My backing is more fun in the Latin backings with Band in a Box. I do two call and response verses then into the extended “No-one in the tomb” third verse. In the last refrain the “No-one in the tomb” sung over the alleluia.
