Christmas Boogie

I am working through Patricia Smith’s collection of songs for Advent and Christmas, And the Angels Sang.

This one is for Christmas concerts and would be a lot of fun to do. I like that the questions stop and the last verse is imperatives.

The style is in the title and so I at least knew that for my backing:

1 Got your presents wrapped?

Is your shopping done?

Got your Christmas tree?

Are the lights turned on?

And is your heart ready, your heart ready for Christmas?

2 Hung your stockings up?

And the wreath as well?

Got your turkey stuffed?

Singing Jingle Bells?

And is your heart ready, your heart ready for Christmas?

Bridge

Have you opened your heart to forgiveness?

Opened your heart to love?

Have you made your home a place of peace?

Have you welcomed strangers in?

3 Get your Santa suit.

Get your angel wings.

Get your table set.

Remember all these things

and get your heart ready, your heart ready for Christmas.

Get your heart ready, your heart ready for Christmas. Yeah!
