Given For You

John Burland has written a Communion song for Sydney’s Eucharist 28. It was co-written by Stephen Leiweke.

John has kindly provided the sheet music for free – I used a link at the APMN Facebook site.

The range is singable and it has enough syncopation and triplets to make it interesting.

A made a backing that highlights BIAB penchant for mimicry – all that arpeggiated guitar.

Verse 1

In this holy place, gathered as one.
Called by the love of the Father and Son,
Here at this table, His promise is true.
Jesus is present, He’s here with us too.

Pre-chorus

At this table we remember the words Jesus said,

Chorus

This is My body, given for you.
This is My blood, poured out for you.
Come to My table, be nourished and fed.
For I am with you through this gift of love.

Verse 2

Bread from heaven, gift of new life,
Poured out in mercy, love’s sacrifice.
In this mystery, in Christ we are one,
Lamb of God, God’s only Son.

Pre-chorus

Chorus

Verse 3

At this meal we come to receive
The body of Christ for all who believe,
Then sent forth to love and to serve,
His hands and feet to all the world.

Pre-chorus

Chorus

For I am with you through this gift of love.
