If (Si)

Fernan asked for this Rory Cooney song, which is based on Psalm 95. It also has Spanish lyrics by Jaime Cortez. It is not one that I am familiar with, but it is a charming Latin influenced call and response hymn.

The sheet music can be purchased at GIA. The preview there doesn’t have the lyrics but some are available at sheetmusicplus.

I made a backing although I don’t have the sheet music so it may be somewhat approximate.

Better still listen to the original:

    If/Si
    By Rory Cooney

    Refrain:
If today you here the voice of God
    Harden not your hearts.
If today you here the voice of God
    Harden not your hearts.

    1. To the tiny wind and the voice.
of hurricane; open up my heart.
To the child at play or the cry’s
of another’s pain, open up my.
    heart. (Refrain)

    3. In my silent prayer, to the earth.
and her mysteries, open up my.
heart. To the call to share to the.
face of my enemies, open up my.
    heart. (Refrain)

To the voice of human need.
    Harden not your heart.
To the signs of lust and greed.
    Harden not your heart.
A una husta sociedad, abre el.
    corazon . A lapaz y unidad,
Abre el corazon. Al que expresa.
    su dolor, abre el corazon.
Let your loves guide every choice,
Open up my heart. If today you
    hear God’s voice,
    Open up my heart.

    4. A la madre tierra y sus tantos
    misterios, Abre el corazon.
A el rostro de los que son
    enemigos, Abre el corazon.

Si tu oyes hoy la vos de Dios,
    Abre el corazon.
    (Harden not your heart)..
    (Abre el corazon)….
