Joy to the World! The Lord Is Come NLPHB 125

While I did this one may years ago in a job lot of Christmas songs from AOV, this is a good excuse to do a BIAB organ backing.

The tune, ANTIOCH, is by George Frederick Handel and in this hymnal is the usual arrangement by Lowell Mason. The text is by Isaac Watts with liberal helpings of “alt” over the years, but you know them anyway.

  1. Joy to the world! the Lord is come;
    Let earth receive her King;
    Let ev’ry heart prepare him room,
    And heav’n and nature sing.(x3)
  2. Joy to the world! the Saviour reigns;
    Let all our songs employ,
    While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains,
    Repeat the sounding joy.(x3)
  3. He rules the world with truth and grace,
    And makes the nations prove
    The glories of his righteousness,
    And wonders of his love.(x3)

Overdone?
