Music for the Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C 6th/7th August 2016

I will be distracted from the blog for a while so I’m going to put up all the music liturgy selections that were decided on at our Music Liturgy team meeting the other day.

There are lots of songs that the team members know that would be wonderful and liturgically apposite but we are being very restrained in adding new material for fear of reducing the participation of the assembly.

We are going to stay with Mason’s Mass of Glory and Praise until Advent and think about about an extra setting next year. There are so many to look at but Mass Shalom is one of the three singable masses of the six suggested by the Australian Bishops and if we do that then we will be singing all of them – Glory and Praise, Mass of St Francis and Shalom. Not very adventurous but practical.

I should mention that the psalm refrains by Amanda McKenna are excellent. We don’t have cantors, so the verses are still read, but with the refrain sung once much of the assembly can pick up the tune and then participate in singing the Psalms. You can purchase the complete set at As One Voice.

Entrance: Lift Up Your Hearts (O’Connor) AOV 1/156

Psalm 32 (McKenna)

Happy the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.

Gifts: We Walk By Faith (Haugen) AOV 1/63

Communion: Bread of Life (Farrell) AOV 1/164

Be Not Afraid  (Dufford) AOV 1/114

Thanksgiving: Without Seeing You (Haas) AOV 2/158

Recessional: Sing of the Lord’s Goodness (Sands) AOV 1/131
