I visited family this weekend so I returned to my old parish. Before Mass began, we practiced We Shall Rise Again by Jeremy Young, which they’ll begin using next week. I had heard it before and have even thought that I’d like it sung at my funeral someday. It was nice to sing it with a whole congregation today.

Gathering: Amazing Grace (Newton; NEW BRITAIN)
Mass Parts: Mass of Creation (Haugen)
Psalm: I Will Praise Your Name Forever (not sure of the composer???)
    Alleluia (Duncan)
Gifts: When Jesus Passed Through Jericho (Stuempfle; FOREST GREEN)
    Communion: We Remember (Haugen)
Closing: There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy (Faber; HYFRYDOL)

In other news, it was All Saints’ Day Friday (a holy day of obligation here), so I have that as well. At my current regular parish…
Gathering: Jerusalem, My Happy Home (Bromehead; LAND OF REST) – OCP’s version
Mass Parts: Mass of the Beloved
Psalm: We Long to See Your Face (Keil)
Gifts: Eye Has Not Seen (Haugen)
    Communion: Be Not Afraid (Dufford)
Closing: Soon and Very Soon (Crouch)

    At the Cathedral’s school Mass:
Gathering: For All the Saints (How; SINE NOMINE)
Mass Parts: Mass in Honor of St. Benedict (LeBlanc)
    Alleluia (chant mode VI)
Gifts: Jerusalem, My Happy Home (F.B.P.; LAND OF REST) – GIA’s version
Communion: Taste and See (Proulx (1986 version) – Hymnary lists it as Proulx 54654)
Closing: Sing with All the Saints in Glory (Irons; HYMN TO JOY)

GIA and OCP have very different lyrics to for Jerusalem, My Happy Home. The first and last verses are similar, but the middle verses are quite different.

If that wasn’t enough, here’s what my current parish did for Sunday…

Gathering: Our God Is Here (Muglia)
Mass Parts: Mass of the Beloved
Psalm: I Will Praise Your Name (Alonso)
Gifts: Amazing Grace (Newton; NEW BRITAIN)
Communion: How Great Thou Art (Hine)
      Center of My Life (Inwood)
Closing: Lift High the Cross (Kitchin/Newbolt; CRUCIFER)
