Testify to Love VAO 2/353

This is a super syncopated P&W song written by a committee consisting of Paul Field, Henk Pool, Ralph Van Manen and Robert Roekerk. It appears to be popular.

The text is here. The sheet can be purchased at several places on the internet including sheetmusicplus.

Teach Me Your Way, O Lord VAO 2/351

This is a great gospel song by Richard Cheri and Jalonda Robertson using Psalm 86. It is a spot for a talented cantor or better still, a choir. Nonetheless, it is obviously a usable liturgical song.

WLP have the sheet music for sale and the text in their sample.

I used an old MIDI style on BIAB for this.

Take My Life VAO 2/350

This is a Vineyard song by Scott Underwood from the slow P&W genre. I can see a use in a commissioning liturgy.

The text is available here.  Vineyard provide a chord sheet and the sheet music can be purchased at Praise Charts.

You can learn it by singing along to my backing, although when done live you would just repeat it until you felt like stopping.

Take and Eat This Bread VAO 2/349

Paul A. Tate has written a perfectly usable, liturgically appropriate song for communion that can be sung by an assembly with ease. That is somewhat a rarity in Voices As One so it is worth mentioning. You can add the harmonies for a choir but it is good enough without them.

The text is their sample and the sheet music can be purchased at WLP.

Sweet Child Jesus VAO 2/348

I’m carrying on with songs from Voice As One Vol 2 that I have not covered elsewhere.  This is a touching Christmas song by Joe Mattingly.

It has a refrain for the assembly that is singable and some work for a cantor in the verses.  As written, a soloist is needed as the notes cross over. It would suit a choir and soloist better than a congregation I suspect.

The sheet music can be purchased at WLP and the text is in their sample.

Surrender VAO 2/347

This is an interesting song by David Yackley.  The structure is odd in that the refrain bookends the song with three verses sandwiched between.  The first verse is a soloist who is joined by a harmony vocal the second time through the verses and then replaced by a rap for the third verse. I can’t think where that fits in a liturgy but it would work in other settings I’m sure.

The lead sheet can be purchased at WLP and the text is their sample.

My backing follows the suggested “modern electronic music” instruction on the sheet music. I left the rap section vacant to talk over if you wish.

Spirit of God VAO 2/346

This Michael Gleason song has grown on me, although I had to find it on Spotify to hear how it goes. It has a use for Pentecost and Easter liturgies.

The only way to get the sheet music I can find, other than Voices As One Vol 2, is if you are a WLP subscriber. If so you can download it here.

You can listen to a snippet here.

So here is backing

for those with the book to sing along with.
