Jesus, Lord GAB 263

It might be time for another break from the OCP Guitar Accompaniment Book after this one.

This is a gentle tune from Randall DeBruyn that could be used for Gifts. It is based on John 3:16-21.

The sheet music can be purchased at OCP where the text is in their preview page.

My backing is more sensible than usual today.

Jesus, Lamb of God GAB 262

This is from Bernadette Farrell’s Mass of Hope and wouldn’t pass for an actual Agnes Dei but with eleven (count ’em) verses there are choices that would work for entrance, gifts, communion and recessional if you wished.

The sheet music can be purchased at OCP where they have hidden the text in their preview.

Jesu, Joy of Our Desiring GAB 257

This is Martin Jahn’s text (translated by Robert S. Bridges) and set to WERDE MUNTER by Johann P. Schop.

The text and public domain sheet music are available at Hymnary.

It can also be purchased at OCP.

Of course what you really wanted was Bach’s setting but lovely as it is, WERDE MUNTER is easier for an assembly.

It Came Upon the Midnight Clear GAB 254

Another carol I don’t seemed to have blogged anywhere. The text is for the downtrodden to find reasons to rejoice in the Christmas story and you can find the text by Edmund H. Sears here.

The public domain sheet music for CAROL by Richard S. Willis is at Hymnary. It can also be purchased at OCP.

Into Your Hands, Lord GAB 251

This song by Grayson Warren Brown is based on Psalm 91 and is a fine piece but because it is sung freely and has no metrical music nor melody for much of the verse isn’t suitable for BIAB and so I’m not doing a backing.

OCP have the sheet music and the text is hidden in their preview.

Infant Holy, Infant Lowly GAB 250

After skipping several songs already blogged in the Guitar Accompaniment Book c2005 from OCP, I am up to this lovely Polish Christmas carol.

Hymnary has the public domain tune by W Zlobie Lezy and the two traditional verses translated by Edith Margaret Gellibrand Reed. OCP have an additional two verses by Daniel Schutte.

In Praise of His Name GAB 244

This is a lively song by Roc O’Connor SJ that would be a good entrance song.  It is based on Psalm 100 and 148.

Each verse has a different tune, which might make it a problem for the assembly. There is a descant for the second verse if you are up for it.

The sheet music can be purchased at OCP. Cantus Mundi have the text.
