I Do Believe (Thomas) VAO 2/281

Continuing my survey of Voices As One Vol 2 , I have already blogged:

280 I Am the Bread of Life (Kaczmarek)

… which brings me to this power ballad by David Yackley called “I Do Believe(Thomas)”. I worry the tune is too fiddly for assembly use but when the reading is there it might be a solo or choir spot in a liturgy.

WLP have the sheet music to purchase along with a sample page with the text.

I Abandon Myself VAO 2/279

278 How Beautiful

John Michael Talbot wrote this pretty and moving prayer. The text is here.

WLP subscribers can download the sheet music here, and it is also available in this collection.

Homeward Bound VAO 2/277

I’ve done 276 Holy Is Your Name already.

“Homeward Bound” is a gospel waltz based on Psalm 126 by Ken Macek. The refrain is singable and VAO has a three part arrangement if you are up for it.  The verses suggest a cantor because of the variations in melody between them.

The sheet music is at WLP where you can see the text in their sample and listen to a snippet.

Holiness is Faithfulness VAO 275

273 Holy Ground

274 Hope to Carry On

Danielle Rose wrote Holiness is Faithfulness.  Voices As One has an SATB arrangement for the refrain and call and response for the verses. I think it is a choir piece more than something for the assembly. It is a gentle funk style song.

The sheet music can be purchased at WLP and the text is in their sample.

My backing has both melody lines at opposite ends of the stereo spectrum.

High and Exalted VAO 2/272

I’ve already blogged:

270 Here I Am to Worship and

Kyle Rasmussen wrote this P&W chant that is designed for copious repetition.

Here I Am (Angotti) VOA 2/269

Now where was I …

I was surveying the songs in the WLP collection Voices As One Volume 2.

Healing Waters (268) was in AOV NG so I’ve already blogged that song here, which brings me to this song by John Angotti. While it says it is for cantor on the verses and all for the choruses, the verses are long and fiddly and suited to a solo interpretation.  Even the chorus is unfriendly for an assembly and goes pretty high, so this song is not going to cut it as liturgical. It has a coda with a funky call and response that leads to multiple harmony lines and would be a great concert piece.

The sheet music can be purchased at WLP and the text is in their sample.

You can see from this clip that he makes it a great a solo piece:
