Forever VAO 2/252

This song by Michael John Poirier is in Voices As One Vol 2 and as far as I can see nowhere else. It is a song that would fit into liturgies that emphasise grace.

WLP has no trace of it on their web site and I can’t find the text nor sheet music for sale anywhere on the net. It is from an album called “Ocean of Mercy”.

So for those with the book who want to sing along:

Forever Grateful VAO 2/251

I’ve come to a run of songs that don’t have much in the way of liturgical use in Voices As One Vol 2. This one by Mark Altrogge is a power ballad of gratitude.

The text is here and the sheet music is available at various sites on the internet including musicnotes. The Ed Bolduc arrangement is available to subscribers at WLP and, of course, in Voices As One Vol 2.

For You Alone VAO 2/250

This is a pretty little song by John Towner. It sounds like a song for personal devotional use rather than liturgy.

The sheet music can be purchased at WLP where the text is in their sample.

Fountain of Mercy VAO 249

This is an odd song by Bernie and Loretta Choiniere.  Mercy is associated with “mist”, someone thirsts “eternity” and “permeate” in used a hymn for the first time ever. The tempo jumps from 104 to 130 and back again and the tune takes the oddest turns.

Subscribers can download it from WLP. I can’t find the text anywhere.

Father, We Thank Thee VAO 2/248

I’m still ploughing through Voices As One Volume 2 and since I’ve already blogged Rita Baloche’s lovely “Flowing River” here, I can carry on to John Angotti’s prayer.

Firstly, why “thee”. Secondly, why have five verses with the same chord progression with each having fiddly changes to the melody line. This is on top of triplets, varying syncopations, etc etc. It basically makes this a solo prayer.

The sheet music can be purchased at WLP where the text is in their sample.

Every Move I Make VAO 2/246

This “Louie Louie” recast as a Praise and Worship song.  It is by David Ruis.

The text, including na na na’s, is here. The sheet music can be purchased at various sites on the internet including musicnotes.

My version repeats the verse then the bridge and then the na nas with gaps for headbanging.

Everything (Tomlin/Reeves) VAO 2/245

This is another song called “Everything” in the collection Voices As One Vol 2, this time by Chris Tomlin and Jesse Reeves. It is a noisy P&W song but might find a place in a liturgy as it isn’t just an “I” song.

The text is here. Musicnotes has an arrangement in Db but Ed Bolduc’s arrangement in VAO sensibly brings it down to A. That arrangement is available to WLP licence holders here.

Everything (Yackley) VAO 2/244

This is a hip-hop praise and worship song from David Yackley. It’s not often that the musical instructions are “easy hip-hop shuffle”.

It’s not liturgical but I’m sure it would be great in other circumstances.

The sheet music can be purchased at WLP where they have put the text up in their sample.

BIAB isn’t overburdened with hip-hop styles but I had a go:

Every Nation on Earth (Psalm 72) VAO 2/243

This is a very singable setting of Psalm 72 by Aaron Thompson. Apart from its use as a Responsorial Psalm it fits Advent and Christmas as well. The coda goes into a nice counter melody.  The verses have enough differences to be cantor material.

The sheet music can be purchased at WLP where the text is in their sample.
