Gather Australia Choir Accompaniment Edition

Thanks to Michael Somerville I have now have my copy of Gather Australia with chords.

It is a version I’ve never seen before.  I recall a larger format accompaniment book but this one is the same size as the melody line edition I have, but somewhat thicker and has piano music and guitar chords for many of the songs.

I reprint Michael’s earlier post with all the details:

Christ the Lord

Ryan highlighted this song for praise that was used at RS’s parish yesterday.

It is by Sarah Hart and Robert Feduccia and has applications for Advent but for Eucharist more generally. It goes up to Eb to annoy groaners like myself but is a modern hymn with a singable “traditional – hymn” like tune.

The sheet music is available at OCP where the text is in their sample. It is also available at spiritandsong.

Everything to Me VAO 2/242

This is a lovely David Yackley song that is more a solo vehicle than a liturgical piece.  It goes very high in the refrain but if you have the pipes for it give it a go.

The sheet music can be purchased at WLP where the text is in their sample.

I let the virtual Mark Knopfler in BIAB loose on this tune.

Dismissal Amen VAO 2/241

I’m continuing my survey of the songs in Voices as One Vol 2 and I can stop bitching about missing pages now because at least these songs are complete.

I blogged 240 – “Did You feel the Mountain Tremble” here, so I’m up to the “Dismissal Amen” by Denise Pyles. This is a bright recessional that splits into call and response in the verses and has a descant in the refrain.  There is so much going on vocally you really only need percussion as a backing.

The sheet music can be purchased at WLP where the text is in their sample.

Deep Down I Know VAO 2/239

This is the last of the songs in my copy of Voices As One Vol 2 with missing pages. It is a David Haas song with which I was not familiar. It is a gospel waltz with subtle differences in the verses that might need a cantor to sort out. The refrain looks fun and has a counter melody for interest.

The text is here and the sheet music can be purchased at sheetmusicplus.

Spirit, Come GAB 473

I saw this song by Gregory Norbet when looking at yesterday’s song and I’ve already blogged it here, but I did a new backing just for fun.

Speak, Lord GAB 472

I’m back in OCP’s Guitar Accompaniment Book for a song used as an entrance at RS’s parish. The music is by Marlene Uszler, who also did the words for the refrain and verse 4. Tim Schoenbachler did the text for verses 1-3. The melody takes an unexpected turn in the second half of the verses that is rather interesting.

It is based on Psalm 19 and is noted to be suitable for RCIA. The sheet music can be purchased at OCP and the text is in their sample.

Draw Me Close VAO 2/238

This song by Kelly Carpenter is another one that was missing from my copy of Voices As One Vol 2. It is not a liturgical song but a gentle Praise and Worship song.

The sheet music is available to purchase at various sites on the internet including musicnotes. The text is here.
