Two Were Bound For Emmaus

There are a few Emmaus songs about and this is one of them, but it goes on to cover another story as well. Bob Hurd wrote it and it tells the stories with a vaguely Irish air.

The text is at spiritandsong where you can also purchase the sheet music.

Peace

This is further catchup from the Easter liturgies at RS’s parish.  This is an old song by Gregory Norbet but a new song for me. It is a lovely gentle chant like song .

The text is here and the sheet music can be purchased at OCP.

Amazing choir + bells:

Nice unpugged solo version:

Let Your Glory Fall SNS 36

I think I’ll give this volume a rest for a while after this heartfelt P&W song from Don Moen. It could be an Advent song at a pinch or might just be best for a Praise and Worship service.

The text is here and the sheet music can be purchase at onlinesheetmusic.

Tell the Good News

This is a lovely simple text that says everything that is necessary by Delores Duffner set to GELOBT SEI GOTT by Melchior Vulpis. This is more catch up on the Easter songs from RS’s parish.

The text is here (really… you just have to look) and the sheet music can be purchased at OCP. Hymnary has details on the tune and a version of the sheet music.

This is a basic organ backing:

Just for fun, the wonderful Delores Duffner at the organ.

More texts for ELLACOMB: “I Sing the Almighty Power of God” & “The Day of the Resurrection”.

I’ve blogged the tune ELLACOMBE elsewhere and have had recent liturgies posted here with other texts for this tune.

“I (or We) Sing the Almighty Power of God” is by Isaac Watts and the text and sheet music is at Hymnary.

“The Day of the Resurrection” is by John of Damascus (trans. John Mason Neale) and my copy is in Together in Song No 361, but you can also find the text and sheet music at Hymnary.

Wow.

Let the Same Mind (God Has Exalted Him) SNS 35

I’ll do a couple more from this collection then give the P&W a rest.  This actually is a song based on passages in Matthew by Graham Kendrick and isn’t praise and worship at all, in fact it is the sort of song an assembly could actually sing and it could even have liturgical uses.

The text is at Kendrick’s site and I couldn’t find it to purchase for download anywhere but it is at least in “The Source : New Songs”.

Roll Away the Stone

RS was kind enough to put this year’s Easter liturgies from their parish recently. There was a lot of material new to me that I will be putting up over the next few weeks.

It seems clear that a lot of US music that came out after AOV 1&2 has not had a lot of exposure in Australia.  I recently went on a second hand hymn book raid on Abebooks and will be looking at some of these songs that have passed us by.

This is a Tom Conroy song that is obviously for Easter Sunday. The number of YouTube clips suggest it’s popular but a lot of the versions seem to drag.

The text is here and the sheet music can be purchased from OCP.

He Healed the Darkness of My Mind

Yola’s parish used the song I hadn’t heard of recently.  The text is by Fred Pratt Green and the tune is ARLINGTON by David Haas.

The text is at Hymnary thanks to Hope Publishing and the sheet music can be purchased at GIA. My copy is in Gather Comprehensive (844).
