Return to the Lord G3 471

For Greater Brisbane it is a return to lockdown so no mass this weekend. We have had one case of the UK mutant Covid 19 out and about, so the city and surrounds are under restrictions for now. Hopefully, the virus has not spread and we can back to normal next week.

In the meantime, Gather 3rd ed. has a lot of songs for Lent for me to do before Lent is upon us. After all these years and thousands of hymns the leftover ones I am coming across now are ones that may not have caught on around here. These songs tend to be Spanish, Gospel, require a cantor or were written by women and so ignored.

This one is by Paul Tate and requires a cantor. The assembly gets to repeat lines in the refrain and defer to a cantor or choir for the verses, so participation is reduced. That said it is an impressive choir piece.

This another that GIA only have in the handbell version as a single item but sheetmusicplus will sell the sheet music and the text is in their preview.

My backing is another fun Irish 6/8 version, so out of place for Lent.
