Today Is Ours

No 135 in AOV NG is “Today is Ours”, words by Monica O’Brien and Trisha Watts, music by Trisha Watts.  The CD has a version sung by Gina Ogilvie.

It is a joyful, bouncy song that is another high school encouragement piece.  The lyrics to the verses are rather more insightful than usual for uptempo songs.

The first note of the song is missing from the sheet music, which does seem a serious omission.

Chorus

Today is ours, come together.

Today is ours to live our dreams.

Today is ours to see new horizons.

Come alive, today is ours!

Come together.

Verse 1

We are the sign of a new beginning.

A sign of peace in our land,

Working together for liberation,

The hope is in our hands!

Chorus

Verse 2

Leave behind your hurts and bruises,

Enter into the gift of today,

Open yourself to the healing power,

See the beauty of each day.

Chorus

Hi, i thank God i found you. I hope you can really help me. Many years ago, i attended a youth convention in Sydney at the Randwick university. It was the best time of my life.
I had purchased at the time a CD with Trisha Watts being the singer which included a Song “Today Is Ours”. for the last 20 years i have been searching for another CD as my original one was taken from my desk in my office at the time.
Every now and then i try to look on the internet the song and cannot find it. I see that you have the bacup track here. Is there any chance you can get me the song? Or even the CD for me? please i hope you can. and is there any way that i can get in touch with Trisha Watts? I actually spent some time with her chatting at the conference at the time. Please get back to me. thanks

Both the MP3 and sheet music are available as inexpensive downloads from As One Voice, here:
    http://www.asonevoice.com.au/Default.aspx?SiteSearchID=807&ID=/search

The actual CD appears available to buy there as well for $14.96.

If you can’t contact Trisha Watts through her friends at As One Voice, I’m sure if you e-mailed Interplay Australia, you could contact her through them.
    enquiries@interplayaus.com.au

    I hope that helps.

    Geoff
