  1. John Optegrove says:

Much better than the typical, completely liturgically inappropriate modern “songs” that you usually post.

  2. Ryan says:

Since All Saints Day is coming up (and it falls on a Sunday this year), I thought I’d add that this tune can also be used with the hymn By All Your Saints Still Striving.

  3. Gio says:

This hymn was half sung today for Christ the King. (Old Calendar)

New Catholic Hymnal #3. The melody in the book was slightly different to the one here, and it had the typical chop and drop of A.G.P.

But the funny part is nobody actually knew the hymn. As soon as Fr. stopped singing so we could process out, the congregation attempted to start the verse melody, but gave up. Us altar servers couldn’t keep it together.

The superior option using that book was #84, Hail Redeemer, King Divine, (but not that melody by Rigby.)

I don’t think anybody in my congregation actually sight reads…

I can’t sight read, which is why I started making backings of hymns so I would know how they went. It is a very pastoral act to put up the melody line on the slides if available – Chris W’s site is good for that – but it doesn’t mean will help all of us.
I’m always surprised by songs that I think are ubiquitous from previous experience that no-one at my current church has ever heard of and that goes for tradition tunes as well.

      cheers
